Pioneers in Romanian Racing

One of the support races at the Bucharest-Ring is the Dacia Logan Cup. The only national series in Romania is being organised by Nicu Encache and his company Racing Nick.

The Dacia Logan Cup is the first racing series in Romania, which is not a rally. "In Romania we have no race circuit. And before we founded Dacia Logan Cup, we only had rallies." Two years ago Encache asked himself why Germany has a Dacia Logan Cup but Romania, the country where this car is being built, has none. "Then I started to organize this championship. Our Dacia Logan Cup normally consists of hill climbing. Only once a year we race on a track, which is here at the Bucharest-Ring."

The Dacia Cup has existed since 2007. "The planning of it was not easy at all, we have had a lot of problems. One of them was that Dacia until now gives us no support. Besides, the national media and television do not help us a lot because they don't know much about racing. They do not even know the difference between racing and rally."

With Hartmut Beyer, Nicu Encache has found someone who is a fan of the Dacia Logan Cup. "He has helped us a lot. I hope to be able to give him something back in the future." Beyer, the C.E.O. of the Bucharest-Ring, also integrated the national series in the event programme of the Bucharest City Challenge. "It is obvious that this is our highlight. Every driver has enjoyed it a lot, it was a great experience. To make the Dacia Logan Cup more popular, we have invited five VIP-racers from TV and show-business to take part in our two races on the Bucharest-Ring: actor Cabral, George Vintila from a radio station, Roxana Ciuhulescu from a TV magazine and two winners of a talent scouting."
