1-2 win for Phoenix Carsport Racing

1-2 win for Phoenix Carsport Racing and Corvette. Marcel Fässler and Jean-Denis Deletraz won the first race of the Bucharest City Challenge on Saturday evening. After 46 laps Deletraz crossed the finish line 0.613 seconds ahead of his team-mate Fabrizio Gollin. Michael Bartels with Maserati came third, more than 22 seconds behind.

Before the start Jetalliance Racing, qualified second with Karl Wendlinger, does not start for safety reasons.

Lap 1  1-2 lead for Phoenix Carsport Racing. Fässler wins the start ahead of Hezemans. Bertolini in the Maserati is third. Bell is leading the GT2 class in 9th position overall.

Lap 7  Fässler is leading with 5.063 seconds from second placed Hezemans. Another five seconds behind is Bertolini in third. Kumpen attacks Bertolini for third.

Lap 10 Bouchut attacks Kumpen for fourth, but the Saleen driver defends his position.

Lap 11 Bouchut passes Kumpen for fourth.

Lap 15 Classification after 15 laps: Fässler is leading with 4.446 seconds ahead from Hezemans. Bouchut completes the 1-2-3 for Corvette in third place. Bertolini is best placed Maserati in fourth in front of Kumpen (Saleen) and Negrao in the second Maserati. Bell (Ferrari) still leads the GT2 class and is ninth overall.

Lap 21 Several teams have come into the pits. Bartels took over the wheel from Bertolini who was fourth before the stop.

Lap 23 Fässler comes into the pits and Deletraz is now behind the wheel.

Lap 24 The second placed Corvette with Hezemans also into the pits.

Lap 27 Classification after driver change: 1-2 lead for Phoenix with Deletraz (no 5) ahead of Gollin (no 6). After overtaking his team-mate, Bartels (no 1) leads the Maserati pack in third in front of Ramos (no 2). Maassen, Longin, Peter and Rusinov were following suit.

Lap 29 Bad luck for Russo. His fire extinguisher activated itself. He came into the pits.

Lap 32 Action packed battle for the lead in the GT2 class: Kirkaldy attacks Davies for first place.

Lap 37 Deletraz leads with 0.566 seconds from Gollin. The battle for the win in the GT2 class is over, after Davies (no 62) spun. Kirkaldy takes the lead in the GT2.

Lap 39 Biagi spun after being hit by Maassen.

Lap 42 Five minutes to go.

Finish 1-2 win for Phoenix Carsport Racing and Corvette with Fässler/Deletraz first and Gollin/Hezemans in second position. Bartels/Bertolini complete the podium in third.
