The Porsche 911 GT3 is powered by a flat six-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 3,598 cc. The maximum output is 309 kW (420 hp), the maximum torque is 420 Nm and the engine revs up to a maximum speed of 8,400 rpm. In race trim, the car weighs 1,150 kilograms, resulting into a very favourable power-to-weight ratio of only 2.7 kg per horsepower.
The gearbox is a six-speed sequential dog-type box. The suspension of the front wheels has a McPherson spring-strut axle lay-out with Sachs gas pressure shock absorbers, double coil springs (main and ancillary spring), an adjustable sword-type anti-roll bar, front axle arms with adjustable camber, a re-inforced front axle crossbar, power steering with electro-hydraulic pressure supply and three-piece BBS light alloy wheels (9J x 18) with central locking. The rear axle is a multi-arm axle with a rigidly mounted axle subframe, Sachs gas pressure shock absorbers, double coil springs, rear axle track arms with adjustable camber, a re-inforced and infinitely adjustable rear axle tiebar, an adjustable sword-type anti-roll bar, complete infinitely adjustable suspension (height, camber, track) and three-piece BBS light alloy wheels (11J x 18) with central locking.
The Porsche 911 GT3 is being used in Porsche's various one-make series all over the world, including the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, in endurance races - and now also as the official City Challenge VIP Race Shuttle. At the Hungaroring, the car's official driver is 22-year old German Frank Kechele, a professional racing driver in the German ADAC GT Masters.
