The final results of the media coverage of the City Challenge event in Baku, Azerbaijan, that was being held during 26 - 28 October 2012, are overwhelming. The GT race spectacle in the city centre and the unique show featuring artists, DJs and pop stars, could count on millions of viewers and readers through various newspapers, magazines and TV stations worldwide.
TV coverage, whether it was live or shown as highlights, reached an audience of over 600 million households. Among the countries were China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom. In total, over 1,200 hours of coverage has been generated. The footage was also live broadcasted on the official City Challenge website and through its mobile app. The videos are still available as video on demand.
Over 150 journalists on site produced more than 680 online, newspaper and magazine articles. Representatives from countries like Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey and the United States attended the event.
In addition, the event attracted 42,000 visitors and 19,750 spectators on race day (with all grand stands filled to capacity). And within just three months, the official fan page on Facebook reached the milestone of 24,000 fans.
City Challenge is pleased with the final results of the media coverage and continues to broaden its network and audience numbers for the next events.
